Loki had been imprisoned on Asgard for his past crimes when he first met Eva Stark. She and her older brother, Ethan, were sent to Asgard for their safety while their mother, Pepper Potts, worked with the Avengers to clear their father Tony Stark of capital murder charges.
Although Eva was only four years old at the time, had defied every attempt Odin's guards had made to keep her out of the prison where she would visit the trickster. In turn, Loki, in turn, found relief from the loneliness his imprisonment had wrought. Eventually the visits stopped when Eva was able to return to Earth after her father had been cleared.
Years would go by after their departure before Loki was given his freedom from his imprisonment after he helped to save Asgard from a powerful enemy. At first his freedom was heavily condition, and limited as he had to remain Asgard at all times, but then he gained back enough trust to be granted the right to visit Midgard.
He had immediately sought out to renew his friendship with Eva, who by that time was a young woman by Earth's standards. He'd never intended to fall in love with her though, or her him, but fall in love they did, and during Eva's twenty-third year of life, they had wed. Afterwards, they had decided to live on Asgard since many people would never forgive Loki for what'd happen in New York.
One of the aspects of his wife's appearance that fascinated Loki about Eva's appearance, particularly were freckles. He found them to be endearing and charming, and he loved how they accentuated her natural beauty. One evening, as they sat on the front porch of their small house on Asgard, Loki reached out to gently touch one of Eva's freckles. "Do you know one of the things that I love most about you?" he asked, a soft smile playing at the corners of his lips.
Eva looked up at him, her eyes shining with curiosity. "What's that?" she asked.
"It's your freckles," Loki said, tracing his finger over her cheek. "They're like stars scattered across your skin, each one unique and beautiful in its own way."
Eva blushed at his words, feeling a warmth spread throughout her body. "Thank you," she said softly.
Later that night while they were lying in bed, Loki traced the freckles on Eva's face with his finger, and began to tell her stories about each one, how he imagined them as tiny constellations, each with its own unique tale to tell.
At some point in her life, Eva had found herself self-conscious about her looks, as all teenagers usually do at some point in their lives. She'd especially been so about her freckles, even hating them, and wishing she could get rid of them. So hearing now !!in turn, loved how Loki loved them made her so glad that she hadn't been able to do away with like she had once wanted to do. His love and acceptance made her feel beautiful, inside and out.
